Feather Down Farm Days at Manor Farm
At Feather Down Farm Days, families unplug from the daily rush and reconnect with each other and Hampshire’s beautiful countryside. This wonderful farm holiday concept was born in Holland and its creator came wandering to Manor Farm in June 2006. We met him and liked it so much we well, we didn’t buy the company, but were delighted to become the very first British hosts. It has proved to be a roaring success.
We look after guests from Easter until October each year. It’s especially popular with families from London who revel in the satisfaction that comes when their children can go free range. Our guests also rave about the farm buggy, aboard which we conduct the Farm Tour and check the animals every day – several times during lambing season in April, which is a real highlight of the year.
The tents are in the old farm orchard, under trees or backed into hedgerows and are perfectly spaced out, each having its own privacy while also being well placed for groups. Some face into the orchard towards the lamb paddock, while others have magnificent views over Alton and the rolling countryside beyond. Each has its own ensuite facilities, some with woodfired hot tubs. Every tent has a campfire for cooking hearty meals in the stew pot or toasting marshmallows, and there are plenty of places for foraging wood.
Whilst a variety of tasty local foods are available from our Honesty Shop. All cooking and heating is done via wood-burning stoves and the lights come from candles and lanterns. No electricity, which means no TV and no loud noise, just conversation and good cheer.
